Abstract |
Objective Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (S-ICH) is proportioned 10-44% of all stroke and old age is risk factor for S-ICH. S-ICH is associated with a high mortality and morbidity, but the treatment of choice is still controversial. So we analyzed treatment effect of stereotactic treatment and conservative treatment of S-ICH in geriatric patients.
Methods We compared neurologic recoveryand hospital days of over 65years old patients with S-ICH who were treated by stereotactic aspiration of hematoma or conservative treatment.
Results From January 2012 to December 2014, 74 patients with S-CIH was treated using stereotactic aspiration of hematoma and 113 patients was received conservative treatment in our institute. 61 patients (82.4%) were showed neurological symptom recovery in stereotactic treatment group and 57 patients (50.4%) were revealed neurological symptom recovery in conservative treatment group. Mean hospital day was 24.8 days in conservative treatment group and 34.2 days in stereotactic treatment group.
Conclusion Stereotactic aspiration of hematoma is effective treatment in geriatric patients with S-ICH who have difficult to undergoing operation. |
